connected vehicles

CONNECTED VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY:
Connected vehicle technology is a wireless communication system installed in the vehicles by which vehicles can communicate each other, resulting in safe transportation without any disturbances.
It is being developed by USDOT to make the surface transportation much more safer by the wireless technology. The main concept of USDOT is to improve the onboard sensors such as radars, by shifting the sensing capability from onboard sensors to inter vehicle communications.
MAIN AIM:
To decrease the drivers distraction.
PURPOSE:
·         To decrease the vehicle crashes and accidents by vehicle crash prevention applications.
·         To ensure in the fast transportation by connected vehicle mobility application so that due to communication between vehicles and even with the traffic signals, users can choose the alternative routes for their destination so results in time and fuel will be saved.
FEATURES:
·         The wireless technology similar to wi-fi called as Dedicated Short Range Communications, when it is connected with the GPS then it would be low in cost.
·         V2V technology provides 360 degrees view for the vehicles with same technology within the range.
·         Even pedestrians can install this technology in mobile phone so that both vehicle driver and pedestrian can be warned regarding the conflicts that would occur.
USES:
·         Reduction in accident rate
·         Safe and faster journey
·         Low fuel consumption and ecofriendly to environment
·         Avoiding the unnecessary routes
·         Users will have the accurate information regarding the routs and travel time.
 INTIAL PROBLEMS:
·         All vehicle manufacturing companies should be able to develop their product according to install the V2V and V2I technologies so this may take some time.
·         The present using vehicles also should be able to install these technologies, this may be possible foe some vehicles and for vehicles it may not be possible.
RESEAERCH:
USDOT has been doing research with automotive manufactures for developing the V2V technology. Engineering prototypes have developed since 2002 that address the critical crash problems identified during the research.
Emergency stop lamp warning:
This model is about warning the surrounding vehicles regarding the emergency braking situation.
Forward collision warning:
This model warns the other vehicle drivers regarding the collision which about to happen which is in the same lane and same direction.
Intersection movement assist:
This model warns the other vehicles regarding the collision of vehicle coming from the other side giving the signal that not to enter the intersection.
Blind spot and lane change warning:
This model is about the bling spot warns the driver that there is a vehicle beyond so do not turn into the other lane.
